UWSP : Illustration Workshop
"Judith and her Maidservant with the Head of Holofernes"
|
When we went to UWSP for a field trip, we were able to fully experience a way that a workshop actually works in such a high level field. The task we got was relatively simple but actually was very hard to fully think on. We were to choose from the various artists pieces the professor had put on the board, and add a spin to them. (While doing that we had to do little studies to the left of the page.) The spin on the piece was to either give it a good feel, or a bad feeling. I choose "Judith and her Maidservant with the Head of Holofernes". My choice was to transfer the dark piece into a lighter piece. So instead of the hidden murder, I turned it into a resurrection full of light, giving the painting a new meaning. We used a variety of mediums including pencil, watercolor, and markers. The workshop was very fun and interesting, and after that we got an entire tour of the school.
